About Us
Michael and Susan Powers, residents of Clinton, are the owners. They both play active roles in making Powers Auto Center the thriving business it is today.
Mike started the business out of our home in 1986. In 1994, we purchased the current location from Weymouth Oil as a vacant lot. The new location started out as car sales only, but grew into a thriving service department that serves the local community with Quality Work and Affordable Prices.
Mike has 25+ years of mechanical experience, and is responsible for buying the cars and trucks we sell. His favorite role is car salesman… he is very proud of our 60 day/2,000 mile Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty and can usually find a way to get a customer financed and make the sale!
Susan has been working in the business since the doors opened in 1994. She is a certified Inspection Mechanic and makes sure that our service customers get the attention they deserve and that quality repairs are done in a timely manner. Her attention to detail keeps the Powers Auto technicians focused on the customers concerns and making the vehicle fun to drive again! She also assists her husband Mike in the sales department getting customers financed and driving their new vehicles home.
In the past 18 years of business, we have grown from a 2 bay, 1 technician shop to a 7 bay, 3 technician shop. We are proud to offer any type of repair needed on your car or truck, from diagnosing an electrical issue, brakes, shocks/struts, head gasket repair, to new tires and a wheel alignment…WE DO IT ALL! In 2012, we updated our alignment machine with a new state-of-the-art John Bean Visualiner Pro32. We also have the best diagnostic tools at our disposal to perform efficient and accurate diagnostics.
You can trust that your car will be well taken care of with our experienced and knowledgeable staff!
Working alongside the owners, Susan and Mike Powers, Tom Morin brings his 44 years of auto sales experience to Clinton!
Tom sold Mike Powers his first vehicle in 1979. Who would have guessed he would be working for him 37 years later?!
44 years ago, Tommy and his partner worked as salesmen at the Toyota dealership at the then thriving Waterville College Avenue location. The owner retired in 1978, and at that time, Tom and his partner purchased the used car part of the business and kept it at the old location. The Toyota dealership went to Central Maine Motors on Kennedy Memorial Drive in Waterville. Mid State Motors was born in 1978. It was a thriving business on College Avenue for 37 years.
In 2005, Tom sold his property to Wentworth Motors, but kept his business there for the next 10 years. In 2015, Tom decided to retire from owning a car business and take the easier route by working for someone else!!
Powers Auto feels privileged to have Tommy on the sales team!
